FAQ

Got questions about your skincare, tallow or TUTTOFARE? Read on for answers to all your frequently asked questions.

TUTTOFARE Tallow Balm is the perfect spreadability and weight to nourish your skin without clogging your pores. It’s like butter, but better.

Being an emollient with occlusive properties, TUTTOFARE Tallow Balm works best when maximum moisture is sealed into the skin, which is typically at the last step of your morning or evening skincare routine. As with most moisturisers, the best time to apply Tallow Balm after oil cleansing when your skin is still slightly damp. We recommend starting with a small amount and spreading evenly until you’ve achieved balanced coverage (a little goes a long way).

At TUTTOFARE Beauty, we make each buttery smooth batch of tallow in-house with ingredients from farms in South Australia and Victoria, Australia.

Yes! Our Tallow Balm is purposefully formulated without a laundry list of ingredients. We wanted to make this suitable for all skin types. It matches your natural sebum, balances natural oil production, and won’t clog your pores.

We work with a handful of powerful, nontoxic ingredients for maximum impact.

Most importantly, you won't find any synthetic fragrances, mineral oils, parabens, petrochemicals, polysorbates, silicones, thickeners or preservatives. Holy Grail Tallow Balm is also essential oil free.

As always, we recommend a patch test first to ensure our Tallow Balm gets on well with your skin.

You shouldn’t need to add actives into your regime if you’re using biocompatible skincare.

The combination and concentration of tallow means TUTTOFARE Tallow Balm is formulated to be biocompatible, or skin identical. It has a pH level as close as possible to the natural pH level of our skin. This is because it contains an abundance of stratum corneum lipids, the ceramides, cholesterol and essential fatty acids contained in the extracellular skin matrix. The closer the pH level that a product is to our natural skin, the more effective it is in balancing and hydrating the skin.

At TUTTOFARE, we’re all about getting the ‘extra’ without putting in anything extra. You get all the actives, without anything being added after the fact. We choose to work with ingredients like tallow and olive oil because they are natural multitaskers. What better representation of TUTTOFARE, in both name and spirit?

We use the most impactful ingredients we can find in nature and source organic whenever possible, including our beef suet. If we can’t find a suitable organic option, our ingredients are always sourced sustainably, and often from regenerative environments.

While organic can tell you many good things, it can’t guarantee the health of the land is improving. We look beyond organic and work with farmers who incorporate regenerative agriculture principles.

PUFA stands for polyunsaturated fatty acids. They can be motherpufas.

Many vegetable oils and seed oils are high in polyunsaturated acids.

When creating our formula, something we noticed in many skincare products was the high PUFA levels which is simply not consistent with our skin. We wanted to create a product that was biocompatible and skin-identical.

When consumed, PUFAs have been linked to slowing the metabolism, encouraging estrogen dominance and driving inflammation. We could go on until the cows come home. It’s any wonder what they may be doing to our skin, our body’s biggest organ.

Unstable and unfriendly, PUFAs oxidise quickly when exposed to light and heat, or when applied topically. This may lead to premature ageing and melasma. From food to skincare, we just want to make sure what we put on our skin and eat is appropriate. With respect to PUFAs, this should be evolutionarily consistent in an essential, not excessive, amount. You get exactly that with our formulas.

All people, all skin types can use TUTTOFARE products.

TUTTOFARE Tallow Balm is nourishing for dry skin, but also restores oily and acne prone skin as it rebalances oil production. It’s all because tallow is so similar to our natural sebum. If you want to learn more, here are five reasons to use tallow for healthy skin.

A smooth, thick, yet easily spreadable balm. Our balance of ingredients means it doesn’t feel grainy or make it difficult to spread.

It’s a happy medium between solid coconut oil (which melts into your skin quickly when rubbed in) and cocoa butter (which takes a little more work). Softer than solid cocoa butter and won’t turn into a liquid in warmer temperatures.

Tallow Balm can be used to soothe stretch marks, cracked nipples and dry lips. It also helps relieve tight and itching bellies.

As always, with other stages in life, it also helps with hormonal breakouts. It’s free from toxins and helps heal, nourish and nurture the skin with the help of fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins occurring naturally in tallow.

But keep in mind, we aren’t doctors – so if you have any questions or concerns, it’s best to consult a medical professional to be on the safe side.

Our customers love using Tallow Balm on bubs and young children, as well as sensitive skin. We have customers using Tallow Balm to treat cradle cap and diaper rash, among other newborn skin conditions. We recommend Holy Grail Tallow Balm for the youngest and most sensitive among us as it has no essential oils, in case of any sensitivities.

One thing to note, we aren't medical professionals. So if you have any questions or concerns, it’s best to take them up with your doctor.

Store at room temperature under 30°c and out of direct sunlight. Like any natural fat – including coconut oil, ghee, coconut butter – tallow is soft and buttery in warmer environments and returns to a solid in cooler temperatures.

Handcrafted with tallow, TUTTOFARE Tallow Balm has a long shelf life without the need for preservatives or chemical emulsifiers, which are known to cause hormone and endocrine disruption.

The stability of our ingredients, even without any added preservatives, means your product will keep for 6 months when stored in a cool and dry place.

Tallow is also more shelf stable than many plant-based oils, which can go rancid more quickly because of their high polyunsaturated fat content. They're also often stripped of their antioxidant properties during the high-heat refining process.
